Overview

As principal contractor for the Pacific Motorway (M1): Watland Street to Sports Drive upgrade, Bielby Holdings (in joint venture) is responsible for construction of 3.5km of the Pacific Motorway and 3km of new busway. This includes six new bridges, with new crossings at Springwood Road and Logan Road, a 950m long elevated veloway structure crossing Logan Road and the new M1 on-ramp at Lexington Road and Springwood Road. Two new underpasses will also be constructed, one for the South East Busway extension at the Rochedale Road off-ramp, and a second under the Logan Road off-ramp as part of the V1 Veloway extension. The project is on track to achieve an Infrastructure Sustainability Council ‘excellent’ rating.

The scope of works includes:

  • Upgrading 3.5km of the M1 between Watland Street and Sports Drive
  • Extending the South East Busway to Springwood bus station
  • Extending the V1 veloway from Sports Drive to Watland Street
  • Relocation of public utility plant
  • Widening the M1 to four southbound lanes from the Rochedale Road off-ramp (Exit 19) to Logan Road and four northbound lanes between the Watland Street overpass and the existing Sports Drive on-ramp
  • Installation of smart motorways technologies
  • Construction of a new M1 on-ramp at Lexington Road including upgrading the Logan Road, Compton Road and Lexington Road intersection
  • Widening of Rochedale Road to three southbound lanes from the Rochedale Road off-ramp (Exit 19) to Springwood Road
